1956

tiptop blinds was established as a retail shopfront by Max & Bella Kinderman on Glenhuntly Road, Elsternwick. Out of love for the shopfront’s heritage, the name tiptop was adopted as an homage to the original shopfront that was there before them.

1960

Melbourne’s most popular window furnishing choice was 50mm Aluminium Venetian Blinds, and a tiptop blinds premier product.

1970

Global trends were reaching Australia, and sons Peter & Robert joined the family business. tiptop blinds were first to manufacture Roller Blinds, which were then called ‘Holland Blinds’.

1988

As Australians became more conscious of sun protection, tiptop blinds began making automatic awnings out of Brella Canvas fabric and were soon manufacturing Folding Arm Awnings of all sizes.

1990

Timber Venetians were a key feature in homes and the most popular choice. tiptop blinds worked hard to keep up with demand for Cedar Venetians. Still a popular choice today, many choose the classic style of white and opt for PVC blinds as an affordable option.

1995

Curtains and drapes became the most popular choice in homes, loved for their blockout functionality and luxurious feel. Playful designs and patterns took centre stage in homes, with a strong focus on flowy drapery cascading to the floor while being tied back to let the light in.

2001

Through their reputation for quality craftsmanship and modern designs, tiptop blinds became a leader in window furnishings and moved to its current factory in Clayton. One of the industry’s biggest factories, it boasts a state-of-the-art, purpose-built Melbourne facility that is ten times larger than their previous Elsternwick shopfront.

2005

Committed to reducing fabric waste, tiptop blinds acquired a first-of-its-kind Aeronaut 10m cutting table that uses technology to cut fabric with precision and minimise waste.

2010

Thanks to the increasing demand for modern chic fabric styles, tiptop blinds purchased its first 4300 Rollease Acmeda Cutting Table. This one-of-a-kind machine cuts fabric by blade-crush- ultrasonic waves, enabling the best possible treatment for each type of fabric to get that perfect quality finish.

2020

To meet the needs of the Australian outdoor lifestyle, tiptop blinds further expanded their range by purchasing a 6m wide TR-1500 impulse welder that welds up to 6m of fabric for awnings and zip screen walls.

2021

tiptop blinds unveiled their state-of-the-art Clayton showroom. Offering an in-person shopping experience like no other, customers can view and feel their range of products while receiving guidance from in-house design experts.
