A Six-Metre Void, Perfectly Resolved
Set in Glen Waverley, this Boutique Homes build was selected for its incredible sense of space—anchored by a dramatic living area with a six-metre-high ceiling and windows spanning multiple orientations. It's the kind of feature that can either feel unfinished or absolutely exceptional, depending on how it's resolved. From the very beginning, our client understood that getting the window furnishings right would define the entire space.
Six-metre sheer curtains
TipTop Blinds was brought in at the planning stage, allowing us to quote directly from drawings and work through all the critical details before construction even began. This early involvement was essential, particularly as the project required a fully automated solution using motorised roller blinds and electric sheers throughout key areas of the home.
Precision Planning: Molex Motorisation
A major focus during this phase was the precise planning and installation of Molex motorisation cabling. Our team supplied the cables and attended site during framing and rough-in, coordinating closely with the builder's supervisor and electrician to ensure every cable was positioned exactly where it needed to be. For roller blinds, this is especially important—whether the blind is being installed within the window reveal, onto the architrave, or face-fixed above the window, the Molex cable must align perfectly with the motor position. If not, costly rewiring is often required after handover.
The same level of precision applies to motorised sheer curtains, where cable placement is just as critical but for a different reason. The motor must sit on the side that the curtain opens towards. If the curtain is designed to stack to the right, the motor and Molex cable must be positioned on the right. If it stacks to the left, everything must be aligned to the left. In the case of centre-opening sheers—where the curtains draw open from the middle towards both sides—the cable can be positioned on either side without issue. These are the small but vital decisions that ensure a seamless finish once installation takes place.

The Result
With multiple site visits throughout the build, we ensured every detail was resolved before handover. The final result includes striking six-metre drop motorised sheer curtains across three feature windows, paired with automated roller blinds to both the upper and lower sections of the void. Across the rest of the home, a refined combination of sheer curtains and electric roller blinds provides comfort, privacy, and ease of use. The transformation is immediate and powerful. What was once a vast, open volume is now a soft, balanced, and highly functional living space—enhanced, not overwhelmed, by its scale. The before and after speaks for itself.
